TOI TOI Easter Concert Brings Movie Magic to Valletta’s Theatre Manoel

Lights, Camera, Action! TOI TOI Easter Concert Brings Movie Magic to the Manoel

Imagine, if you will, the grand Theatre Manoel, Malta’s oldest working theatre, transformed into a silver screen. This Easter, the TOI TOI Easter Concert promises just that, as it brings ‘Movie Magic’ to the historic stage in Valletta.

From Stage to Screen

The TOI TOI Easter Concert, now in its 14th year, has always been about pushing boundaries and offering something unique. This year, under the baton of renowned conductor Brian Schembri, the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra will transport audiences from their seats in the theatre to the comfort of their favourite cinema chair. The concert will feature iconic movie themes, from the epic ‘Star Wars’ to the romantic ‘Love Story’, and everything in between.

“We wanted to do something different this year,” says Schembri. “Something that would appeal to everyone, from classical music lovers to film buffs. What better way than to celebrate the music that has become the soundtrack to our lives?”

Malta’s Own Movie Magic

Malta’s film industry has been booming in recent years, with blockbusters like ‘Game of Thrones’ and ‘Gladiator’ being filmed on the island. The TOI TOI Easter Concert is a celebration of this success, with many of the pieces performed being composed by Maltese musicians. “We have so much talent here,” says Schembri. “It’s important to showcase that.”

The concert will also feature soloists from the Malta Youth Orchestra, giving them a chance to shine on the big stage. “It’s a great opportunity for these young musicians to gain experience and grow,” says Schembri.

Practical Magic

So, what can you expect from the TOI TOI Easter Concert? Well, for a start, it’s a great way to spend Easter Sunday. The concert begins at 7:30 PM, giving you plenty of time to enjoy a leisurely lunch beforehand. So, why not spend your Easter Sunday experiencing a little movie magic in the heart of Malta’s capital? It’s an evening of entertainment that’s sure to leave you feeling inspired and uplifted.
