TOI TOI Easter Concert: Movie Magic at the Theatre Manoel
Movie Magic Unveiled: TOI TOI Easter Concert at the Manoel
Imagine this: the grand Theatre Manoel, Malta’s oldest working theatre, transformed into a cinematic wonderland. This isn’t a dream sequence, but rather the reality of the TOI TOI Easter Concert, set to enchant audiences this April. So, what’s in store for Malta’s culture vultures?
From Stage to Screen
The TOI TOI Easter Concert, now in its 12th year, is no stranger to pushing boundaries. This year, however, promises to be extra special. Under the baton of Maestro Brian Schembri, the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra will be joined by the MPO Chorus and soloists to bring the magic of the movies to life. Expect to hear iconic themes from films like Star Wars, Harry Potter, and Jurassic Park, among others.
But how do you translate the epic scale of cinema to the intimate setting of the Theatre Manoel? “It’s all about storytelling,” says Schembri. “We’re not just playing music; we’re creating an experience that transports the audience into another world.”
Malta’s Own Movie Maestro
Schembri, a Malta native, is no stranger to the magic of film music. He’s conducted scores by John Williams, Hans Zimmer, and James Horner, to name a few. “Growing up in Malta, I was always drawn to the power of film music,” he recalls. “It has the ability to evoke such strong emotions, to tell a story without words.”
Schembri’s passion for film music is contagious. The TOI TOI Easter Concert has become a highlight of Malta’s cultural calendar, drawing audiences from across the island and beyond. This year, the concert falls on Easter Sunday, April 4th, at 7:30 PM. Tickets are selling fast, so if you’re planning to go, don’t miss out.
As for what’s next for Schembri and the TOI TOI Easter Concert? “We’re always looking to innovate,” he teases. “Next year, we might just bring the movies to life in a whole new way.”
