Kanye West to Play Malta? Local Promoter Makes It Happen
As the sun set over the Three Cities, a local promoter’s phone buzzed with an unexpected message. It was Kanye West’s management, confirming he’d headline London’s Wireless Festival. But there’s a twist – the promoter’s got Malta on his mind.
From London to Malta: Kanye’s Unexpected Detour
Malta’s music scene is no stranger to international acts, but a Kanye West concert? That’s a breakthrough. Local promoter, Joe Xuereb, is the man behind this potential coup. His plan? To bring Kanye to Malta after his London gig.
“I’ve been working on this for months,” Xuereb told Hot Malta, sipping on a coffee at Café Jubilee in Valletta. “Kanye’s team loved the idea of a Mediterranean stop. They’re just finalising the details.”
Malta’s Music Scene: Ready for Kanye?
Malta’s music scene is vibrant, with events like the Isle of MTV and the annual Earth Garden festival drawing international acts. But a Kanye West concert? That’s a whole different level.
“This would be a massive boost for Malta’s music scene,” says Mark Mallia, a local music enthusiast. “It’s about time we got a big-name act like Kanye.”
But not everyone’s thrilled. “I’m not sure Malta’s ready for Kanye,” says Maria Azzopardi, a Valletta resident. “His concerts can be… intense.”
Logistics and Location: Making Kanye Happen
Xuereb’s got his work cut out. He’s scouting locations, with the Ta’ Qali National Park and the Granaries in Floriana topping his list. “We need a venue that can handle a massive crowd and production,” he says.
Then there’s the logistics. “We’re talking about a major international act,” Xuereb explains. “We’ll need to coordinate with the Civil Protection Department, the police, and other authorities. It’s a big operation.”
But Xuereb’s confident. “Malta’s ready for this. We’ve got the infrastructure, the passion, and the people. It’s time we showed the world what we’re made of.”
So, Malta, are you ready for Kanye? The promoter’s made his move. Now it’s up to us to show the world we can handle a Yeezus-level concert.
