Malta’s Zach Vella Completes Epic London to Malta Charity Run

Zach Vella: From London Streets to Swiss Alps for Malta’s Children

Imagine, if you will, the bustling streets of London, the city’s iconic red buses rumbling by as our man, Zach Vella, laces up his running shoes. Not just any run, mind you, but an epic journey that would see him traverse countries, conquer mountains, and raise funds for Malta’s children. This is not a tale of ‘can he do it?’, but rather, ‘how far will he go?’

Setting Off: London’s Eye to Malta’s Heart

Zach’s journey began at the foot of the London Eye, the city’s giant Ferris wheel looming large behind him. With a wave to the camera and a deep breath, he set off, his destination a world away – the humble streets of Malta. His mission? To raise €50,000 for the Malta Community Chest Fund, a charity close to his heart.

But this wasn’t just a run; it was a test of endurance, a battle against fatigue, and a race against time. Zach planned to cover over 1,500 miles, averaging a marathon a day. No small feat, even for the most seasoned runner. Yet, Zach was undeterred. “I’ve run marathons before,” he said, “but never like this. Never for something so important.”

Through France and Into Switzerland

Zach’s route took him through France, his feet pounding the cobblestone streets of Paris, past the Eiffel Tower, and onto the picturesque countryside. He ran through rain and shine, his determination unwavering. Then came the Swiss Alps, a daunting sight for any runner. But Zach was no ordinary runner. He had grown up in Malta, an island known for its challenging terrain. If anyone could conquer these mountains, it was him.

He tackled the Alps one peak at a time, his legs burning, his lungs screaming for air. But with each step, he thought of Malta, of the children who would benefit from his efforts. And so, he pushed on, his resolve unbroken.

Home Stretch: Malta in Sight

As Zach approached the Swiss-Italian border, he knew he was close. Just a few more days, a few more miles, and he would be home. The thought spurred him on, his pace quickening as he ran through the lush Italian countryside.

Finally, after 72 days and over 1,500 miles, Zach Vella set foot on Maltese soil. He was greeted by cheering crowds at the Ċirkewwa ferry terminal, the very place he had set sail from all those weeks ago. His journey was over, but his mission was far from complete.

“This is just the beginning,” Zach said, his voice hoarse from the journey. “Now, it’s time to make sure every cent raised goes towards helping Malta’s children.”

And so, Zach Vella’s epic run comes to an end, but his story continues. He has shown us all what one man can achieve when driven by passion and purpose. He has run from London to Malta, not just for the challenge, but for the children who need our help. And for that, Malta owes him a debt of gratitude.
