Munxar Crash: Motorcyclist Seriously Injured in Gozo’s Latest Road Incident
As the sun dipped below the horizon last night, the usually tranquil village of Munxar in Gozo was suddenly jolted awake by the screech of brakes and the crunch of metal. A motorcyclist lay injured on Triq il-Kbira, the main street that winds through the heart of this picturesque village, as emergency services rushed to the scene.
The Incident
The crash occurred around 8:30 PM, according to eyewitnesses who spoke to Hot Malta. A 35-year-old man from Xewkija was traveling on his motorcycle when he collided with a car near the junction with Triq il-Madonna. The motorcyclist was thrown from his bike and sustained serious injuries, including a suspected broken leg and head trauma.
Paramedics from the Gozo General Hospital arrived swiftly and stabilized the victim before transporting him to the hospital for further treatment. The driver of the car, a 52-year-old woman from Munxar, was unharmed but visibly shaken by the incident.

News of the crash spread quickly among Munxar’s close-knit community. This incident comes amidst ongoing concerns about road safety in Gozo. According to statistics from the Malta Police Force, there were 176 road accidents in Gozo in 2020, resulting in 266 casualties. While this is a decrease from previous years, safety advocates argue that any number is too high.
