Abela Dismisses Election Uncertainty Concerns

Abela: “Elections Will Go Ahead, Despite Challenges”

In the heart of Valletta, at the historic Auberge de Castille, Prime Minister Robert Abela addressed the nation’s concerns about the upcoming election, dismissing uncertainty as a mere “blip” in Malta’s democratic process.

Uncertainty Looms Large

With the COVID-19 pandemic casting a long shadow over the election date, speculation has been rife among locals. From the bustling streets of Paceville to the quiet corners of Marsaxlokk, whispers of delay and uncertainty have been echoing. Abela, however, was quick to quell these rumours.

“We are facing rare times, yes,” he acknowledged, “but Malta is no stranger to adversity. We’ve weathered storms before, and we’ll weather this one too.”

Logistics and Safety: The Prime Minister’s Plan

Abela outlined a plan that prioritises both the election’s smooth conduct and public safety. Polling stations, he assured, will be equipped with necessary sanitisation measures and social distancing guidelines will be strictly enforced. “We’re working closely with the Superintendence of Public Health to ensure every precaution is taken,” he said.

He also addressed concerns about voting logistics, especially for the elderly and vulnerable. “We’re exploring options like postal voting and extended polling hours to make the process as accessible and safe as possible,” he revealed.

Elections: A Cornerstone of Democracy

Abela stressed elections on time, despite the challenges. “Elections are the lifeblood of our democracy,” he said. “They’re a testament to our resilience and our commitment to our democratic values.”

He ended his address with a call to action, “Let’s not let fear and uncertainty dictate our future. Let’s come together, vote safely, and show the world that Malta stands strong.”
