Missing Teen: €1,000 Reward Offered for Information

In the heart of Malta, the bustling Republic Street in Valletta is eerily quiet this evening. The usually vibrant street, lined with historic buildings and lively cafes, is subdued, reflecting the concern that has gripped the community. The reason? A teenage student, 16-year-old Maria, has been missing for over a week.

Maria’s Disappearance

Maria, a student at the prestigious St. Aloysius College, was last seen on the evening of Monday, 13th February. She had left her home in Msida, a short bus ride away from the college, around 6 PM, telling her family she was going to meet friends in Valletta. She never returned home.

Her family reported her missing the following day, sparking a search that has involved the police, volunteers, and the local community. Posters bearing Maria’s image and details have been plastered across the island, from the narrow streets of the Three Cities to the coastal towns of the north.

Police Appeal and Reward Offer

Inspector Joseph Camilleri of the Malta Police Force has appealed to the public for any information that could lead to Maria’s whereabouts. “We are following every lead,” he said, “but we need the public’s help. If anyone saw Maria that evening, or knows anything about her disappearance, please come forward.”

In a move to encourage information, a €1,000 reward has been offered for any tip that leads to Maria’s safe return. The reward is being funded by a group of local businesses and individuals who have been moved by Maria’s story.

Community Response

The Maltese community has rallied around Maria’s family, with many sharing her story on social media and joining search parties. “It’s like she’s our own,” said Lisa, a mother of two from Birkirkara who has been helping with the search. “We won’t stop until she’s found.”

Maria’s family has expressed their gratitude for the outpouring of support. Her father, Mr. Galea, said, “We are overwhelmed by the kindness of people. It gives us strength to keep going.”

If you have any information about Maria’s whereabouts, please contact the Malta Police Force on 119 or the family’s lawyer, Dr. Michael Tanti-Dougall, on 21237000.
