Missing Teen: €1,000 Reward Offered for Information
Imagine walking down Republic Street in Valletta, the sun casting a warm glow on the historic buildings, when you suddenly remember that you haven’t seen your friend, 16-year-old Matthew, in days. This isn’t just any friend; Matthew is a student at the prestigious St. Aloysius College, a familiar face in the bustling streets of Malta’s capital. But now, he’s missing.
Matthew’s Disappearance
Matthew was last seen on the evening of Tuesday, 14th February, near his home in Birkirkara. His family and friends are understandably worried, and the police are treating his disappearance as a high-priority case. Matthew is described as 5’7″ with short brown hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a black hoodie, blue jeans, and white trainers.
€1,000 Reward Offered
In an effort to encourage anyone with information to come forward, a €1,000 reward has been offered by a local businessman who wishes to remain anonymous. The reward is a significant gesture, highlighting the community’s concern and willingness to help find Matthew. “I hope this reward will encourage anyone who might have seen something to come forward,” the businessman said.
Superintendent Keith Mercieca, leading the investigation, urges anyone with information to contact the police immediately. “No detail is too small,” he said. “If you think you might have seen something, please get in touch. It could be the piece of the puzzle we need.”
Support and Vigils
The Maltese community has rallied around Matthew’s family, with vigils held in Birkirkara and messages of support flooding social media. “We’re a close-knit community,” said one resident. “When something like this happens, we all feel it. We’re doing everything we can to help.”
Matthew’s family has asked for privacy during this difficult time but has expressed their gratitude for the outpouring of support. “We just want Matthew home,” his mother said. “Please, if you know anything, no matter how small, please tell the police.”
If you have any information about Matthew’s whereabouts, please contact the police on 119 or visit your nearest police station. Let’s bring Matthew home.
