Missing Teen: €1,000 Reward Offered in Birkirkara Search

In the quiet, tree-lined streets of Birkirkara, a community is on edge. A teenage student, 16-year-old Mara, has been missing for over a week, and her family, friends, and neighbours are desperate for any information that could lead to her safe return.

Mara’s Disappearance

Mara was last seen on the evening of Monday, 13th February, near her home in Triq il-Kbira, Birkirkara. She had stepped out to meet a friend but never returned. Her worried family reported her missing the following day, setting off a frantic search that has now entered its second week.

“She’s a sweet girl, always smiling,” says her neighbour, Maria, who has known Mara since she was a child. “It’s not like her to just disappear like this. We’re all really worried.”

Search Efforts and Reward

The Malta Police Force has been tirelessly searching for Mara, conducting door-to-door inquiries and reviewing CCTV footage. They’ve been joined by volunteers from the local community, who have been scouring parks, alleyways, and other potential hiding spots in Birkirkara and beyond.

In a bid to encourage anyone with information to come forward, Mara’s family has put up a €1,000 reward for any tip that leads to her safe return. “We just want her back home,” says her father, Joseph. “Please, if you know anything, no matter how small, please tell the police.”

How You Can Help

If you have any information about Mara’s whereabouts, no matter how insignificant it may seem, please contact the Malta Police Force on 119 or the dedicated hotline set up for this case: 17700 1234. You can also share any information anonymously through the ‘Report a Crime’ feature on the Malta Police Force’s website.

Let’s bring Mara home. Together, we can light up the streets of Birkirkara with hope and bring this anxious wait to an end.
