Missing Teen: €1,000 Reward Offered, Malta Urged to Help

Malta woke up to an eerie silence this morning, not because of the usual bustling activity, but due to the absence of one of its brightest young stars. 16-year-old Mia Zammit, a student at the prestigious St. Aloysius College, has been missing since Tuesday evening, leaving her family, friends, and the entire community on edge.

Mia’s Last Known Whereabouts

Mia was last seen around 7 PM on Tuesday, 14th February, near the iconic Spinola Bay. She was wearing her school uniform – a navy-blue pleated skirt, a white shirt, and a red tie. Her black Converse shoes and a denim jacket completed her outfit. She had her school bag with her, a black backpack with the words “St. Aloysius” embroidered in white.

Her family reported her missing on Wednesday morning when she didn’t return home from school. “It’s not like Mia to disappear like this,” her distraught mother, Maria Zammit, told Hot Malta. “She’s always been responsible and reliable. We’re worried sick.”

Search Efforts and Reward Offered

The Malta Police Force has been tirelessly searching for Mia, with assistance from the public and other emergency services. They’ve been conducting searches in Spinola Bay and its surrounding areas, as well as other locations Mia is known to frequent.

In a desperate bid to find Mia, her family has offered a €1,000 reward for any information leading to her safe return. “We’ll do whatever it takes to bring Mia home,” her father, Peter Zammit, said. “We’re appealing to anyone who might have seen her or knows where she is to please come forward.”

Malta United in Concern

Malta has rallied around the Zammit family, with #FindMia trending on social media. Neighbours, friends, and even strangers have been sharing Mia’s photo and offering their support to her family.

“Mia is part of our community,” said Fr. Joe Borg, the parish priest of St. Julian’s. “We’re praying for her safe return and doing everything we can to help her family. We urge anyone with information to come forward.”

Mia’s disappearance has also sparked conversations about mental health and help. “We need to remember that there’s always someone to talk to,” said Dr. Nadine Delicata, a local psychologist. “If you or someone you know is struggling, please reach out to a professional.”

If you have any information about Mia’s whereabouts, please contact the Malta Police Force on 119 or the Zammit family directly.
