At around 10:30 PM last night, the quiet residential area of Msida was shattered by a sudden explosion. The blast, originating from a garage on Triq San Pawl, through the neighborhood, leaving a man seriously injured and residents in a state of shock.

The Blast: A Neighbor’s Account

Maria, a resident of Triq San Pawl, described the scene to Hot Malta. “I was watching TV when suddenly, the whole house shook. I ran outside and saw smoke billowing from the garage down the street. People were screaming, and I could hear sirens in the distance.”

Emergency Services Respond

Emergency services rushed to the scene, finding a man in his 40s with severe injuries. He was immediately transported to Mater Dei Hospital, where he remains in critical but stable condition. The explosion also caused significant damage to the garage and nearby vehicles.

The police have launched an investigation into the cause of the explosion. While too early to confirm, preliminary reports suggest it may have been caused by a gas leak or an accident involving hazardous materials stored in the garage.
