Traffic Chaos: Nine Officers for One Job at PL HQ
Picture this: It’s rush hour in Pietà, and you’re stuck in traffic, inching your way towards the main roundabout. You look around and count… one, two, three, four… wait, is that nine traffic officers you see? Welcome to the new normal outside the Labour Party headquarters.
Too Many Hands on Deck?
That’s right, folks. It takes up to nine transport officers to ‘assist’ traffic next to the Labour Party’s headquarters in Pietà. This isn’t a one-off; it’s been happening for months now, leaving drivers bewildered and commuters frustrated. So, what’s the deal?
According to sources, the high visibility is due to the increased traffic flow in the area, with many drivers using the street as a shortcut to avoid the busy Marsa roundabout. The Labour Party headquarters, located on Triq l-Indipendenza, has seen a surge in activity, with party members and supporters frequenting the area. But is this really the best use of our traffic officers’ time?
Residents and Commuters Speak Out
We hit the streets to get a pulse on what locals think. “It’s ridiculous,” said Maria, a resident of nearby Triq San Ġorġ. “I’ve seen up to nine officers at a time. It’s like they’re directing traffic in a Formula One race, not Pietà.”
Commuters aren’t happy either. “It takes me twice as long to get through that roundabout now,” said Paul, a regular commuter from Msida. “I understand the need for traffic management, but this is overkill. I’ve seen more officers than cars sometimes.”
What the Authorities Say
We reached out to the Transport Malta for comment. A spokesperson told us, “The high visibility is a temporary measure to manage increased traffic flow in the area. We’re constantly reviewing our strategies to ensure we’re making the best use of our resources.”
So, there you have it. Nine traffic officers for one job. Love it or hate it, it’s a sight you won’t miss if you’re driving through Pietà anytime soon.
