Meet the Momentum Movers: Your Local Election Candidates

Imagine this: a bustling Republic Street, the heart of Malta’s capital, on a sunny afternoon. A sea of red t-shirts, the colour of determination and progress, is gathering. They’re not here for a festival, but for a cause – to introduce you to the people who could shape your community’s future. These are the candidates of Momentum Malta, ready to make their mark on the local council elections.

Who are Momentum Malta?

Momentum Malta is a political party that’s been making waves since its inception in 2018. They’re known for their grassroots approach, their commitment to environmental sustainability, and their dedication to community engagement. They’ve already proven their mettle in the 2019 European Parliament elections, and now, they’re set to make their mark on the local scene.

Meet the Candidates

Momentum Malta has fielded candidates in all six local councils – Birkirkara, Paola, Msida, Swieqi, Pembroke, and San Ġwann. Let’s meet a few of them, starting with Birkirkara’s very own, Dr. Clifton Grima.

Dr. Grima, a local resident, is a passionate environmentalist and a firm believer in community engagement. “Birkirkara is more than just a place to live,” he says, “it’s a community that deserves a voice, and that’s what I’m here for.” He’s not just talking the talk; he’s been walking the walk, actively involved in local initiatives like the Birkirkara Green Map project.

In Paola, we meet another dedicated candidate, Dr. Maria Attard. A primary school teacher by profession, she’s no stranger to the power of community. “Paola is my home,” she says, “and I want to ensure that it remains a place where everyone feels valued and heard.” Her commitment to education and community development is evident in her involvement in local projects like the Paola Community Garden.

We could go on, introducing you to each candidate – from Msida’s Dr. Alexia Pace, a passionate advocate for mental health awareness, to Swieqi’s Dr. Roderick Galdes, a committed environmentalist and community activist. But we’ll leave some surprises for you to discover on your own.

What Makes Momentum Different?

Momentum Malta stands out for several reasons. Their commitment to sustainability is evident in their manifesto, which promises to prioritise green spaces, sustainable transport, and renewable energy. They’re also committed to community engagement, promising to create platforms for open dialogue and collaboration.

But perhaps what sets them apart is their commitment to diversity and inclusion. Their candidate list is a testament to this – it’s a mix of ages, backgrounds, and professions, reflecting the diversity of Malta’s communities.

So, as you walk down Republic Street, or any other street in Malta, remember the sea of red t-shirts. Remember the faces, the voices, the commitments. These are the Momentum candidates, ready to make a difference, one community at a time.

And as for you, dear reader, remember that your vote is your voice. Use it wisely. Use it for change. Use it for Momentum.
