Meet the Momentum: Your Neighbors Running for Change
Imagine this: it’s a sunny afternoon in Msida, and you spot a group of locals huddled around a table at Café Berlino. They’re not just chatting over espressos; they’re discussing how to shape Malta’s future. These are the candidates of Momentum, the newest political force on our island.
Who are Momentum?
Momentum is a political party born out of Malta’s grassroots. Launched in 2020, they’ve been making waves with their fresh approach to politics, focusing on youth, environment, and social justice. They’re not your typical politicians; they’re your neighbors, friends, and colleagues who decided to step up and make a difference.
Meet the Candidates
Clint Camilleri – Leader & Candidate for Ħamrun
Clint, a 33-year-old Ħamrun native, is Momentum’s leader and a familiar face in local politics. He’s been active in Ħamrun’s community for years, from organizing clean-ups to advocating for better infrastructure. Now, he’s ready to take his passion for Ħamrun to Parliament. “Ħamrun deserves better,” he says, “and I’m determined to fight for it.”
Rosianne Cutajar – Candidate for Ħal-Qormi & Ħal-Lija
Rosianne, a 27-year-old Ħal-Qormi resident, is a social worker by profession and a community activist at heart. She’s been at the forefront of campaigns advocating for better mental health services and women’s rights. “I want to bring my passion for social justice to Parliament,” she says. “I want to ensure that everyone in Ħal-Qormi and Ħal-Lija has access to the services they need.”
Carlyle Farrugia – Candidate for Msida & Gżira
Carlyle, a 31-year-old Msida resident, is an environmental engineer who’s been fighting for a greener Malta. He’s been involved in various environmental campaigns, from beach clean-ups to advocating for better waste management. “Msida and Gżira deserve a voice that’s passionate about protecting our environment,” he says. “I want to be that voice.”
And Many More…
Momentum has a diverse slate of candidates, each with their own unique story and passion. They’re teachers, social workers, environmental activists, and more – all united by their desire to bring positive change to Malta.
What Makes Momentum Different?
Momentum is different because it’s not just a political party; it’s a movement. It’s a group of people who believe in the power of collective action and grassroots democracy. They’re not promising grand plans; they’re promising to listen, to engage, and to work together with Malta’s communities to build a better future.
As Clint Camilleri puts it, “We’re not here to replace the old guard. We’re here to create a new guard, one that’s more inclusive, more diverse, and more responsive to the needs of Malta’s people.”
