Two Women, Girl Injured in Separate Malta Traffic Accidents

Traffic Chaos: Two Separate Crashes Leave Three Injured in Malta

It was a scene of chaos and concern on Malta’s roads yesterday, as two separate traffic accidents left three people, including a 5-year-old girl, injured. The incidents, which occurred within hours of each other, have once again raised questions about road safety on the island.

First Crash: Bus and Car Collide in Msida

The first accident happened at around 10:30 AM on Triq San Gorg Preca, Msida. A public bus and a private car collided, leaving the young girl and her mother, both passengers in the car, with minor injuries. They were rushed to Mater Dei Hospital for treatment.

Witnesses described the scene as chaotic, with traffic backed up along the busy street. “I was driving behind the bus,” said one witness, who wished to remain anonymous. “Suddenly, I saw the car swerve and hit the bus. It was scary, especially seeing the little girl crying.”

Second Crash: Head-On Collision in Żebbuġ

Just hours later, at around 3:00 PM, another accident occurred on Triq il-Kbira, Żebbuġ. This time, a head-on collision between two cars left a woman in her 40s with minor injuries. She was also taken to Mater Dei Hospital.

Residents in the area reported hearing a loud crash, followed by screams. “We rushed out to see what had happened,” said a Żebbuġ resident. “It was a nasty crash. We’re just glad no one was seriously hurt.”

Road Safety Concerns Raised

These accidents have once again brought road safety to the forefront of public discourse. Malta’s roads are among the most congested in Europe, and accidents are a regular occurrence.

“We need to do more to improve road safety,” said Dr. Mario Sagona, a local road safety advocate. “This includes better enforcement, improved road infrastructure, and more education for drivers.”

The police have urged drivers to exercise caution on the roads, reminding them to adhere to speed limits and drive defensively. “These accidents could have been much worse,” said a police spokesperson. “We urge all drivers to take responsibility and help make our roads safer.”

Investigations Underway

Investigations into both accidents are ongoing. The police have appealed for any witnesses to come forward.

“We need to understand what caused these accidents,” said the police spokesperson. “If you saw anything, please contact us. Your information could be crucial.”
