Beatles Museum: Abbey Road’s Final Gig Site to House First Museum

Abbey Road’s Final Note: The Beatles’ Last Gig Site to House First Museum

Imagine standing on the zebra crossing, the very spot where the Fab Four posed for their iconic album cover. Now, picture this: a museum dedicated to the Beatles, rising from the very ground where they played their last ever gig. This isn’t a scene from a time-travel movie, but a reality set to unfold in London.

From Abbey Road to Museum Road

The Beatles’ final live performance took place on the rooftop of the Apple Corps building at 3 Savile Row, London, on January 30, 1969. Now, half a century later, the site is set to become home to the world’s first Beatles museum. The new attraction, named ‘The Beatles: Get Back’, will open its doors in the autumn of 2022, marking the 50th anniversary of the band’s breakup.

The museum, a joint venture between Apple Corps and the National Trust, will offer visitors an immersive experience, delving into the band’s creative process during the ‘Get Back’ sessions that led to the rooftop concert. It promises to showcase never-before-seen footage, recordings, and personal items from the band members.

Malta’s Beatlemania: A Local Connection

While the museum is set to draw Beatles fans from across the globe to London, Malta’s own Beatlemania enthusiasts can take heart. Our very own Beatles tribute band, The Cavern Beatles, have been keeping the Fab Four’s legacy alive on our islands for over a decade. Led by Malta’s own Beatle, Mario Vella, the band has been entertaining local audiences with their uncanny resemblance to the original band members and their spot-on recreation of the Beatles’ music.

Vella, speaking to Hot Malta, expressed his excitement about the upcoming museum. “It’s fantastic that a place dedicated to the Beatles is finally happening. It’s about time we had a space where fans can go and really immerse themselves in the Beatles’ story,” he said.

For those eager to get a taste of the Beatles experience closer to home, The Cavern Beatles will be performing live at the Hilton Malta this summer. Mark your calendars for a night of nostalgia and great music.

: A New Chapter in Beatles’ History

The upcoming museum is not just a new attraction for London; it’s a new chapter in the Beatles’ history. It’s a place where fans can connect with the band’s music and story in a way that’s never been possible before. As the countdown to the museum’s opening begins, one thing is clear: the Beatles’ legacy continues to inspire and captivate, half a century after their last gig.

As John Lennon once said, “The Beatles are more popular than Jesus now; I don’t know which will go first – rock ‘n’ roll or Christianity.” While we can’t predict the future of religions, one thing is certain: the Beatles’ music and legacy will continue to endure, and the new museum is set to become a testament to that.
