Eden Leisure Foundation’s Thrift Store Returns to Ta’ Xbiex
Eden Leisure Foundation’s Thrift Store: A Treasure Trove of Sustainability Returns to Malta
Ever wondered what lies behind the unassuming blue door at 177, St. George’s Road, Ta’ Xbiex? For a few weeks this autumn, it’s not just a storage room, but a pop-up thrift store filled with pre-loved treasures, all in the name of sustainability. Eden Leisure Foundation’s fourth edition of their thrift store is back, and it’s bigger and better than ever.
From Closets to Community
The concept is simple yet powerful. The Eden Leisure Foundation, in collaboration with local businesses and the public, collects gently used clothing, accessories, and household items. These are then sorted, cleaned, and displayed in the pop-up store. The best part? All proceeds go towards supporting local charities and community initiatives.
“We’re transforming clutter into cash for a cause,” says Simon De Cesare, Director of Eden Leisure Group. “It’s a win-win situation. People declutter their homes, find unique pieces at affordable prices, and support local charities all at once.”
Sustainable Shopping Meets Community Spirit
The thrift store isn’t just about shopping; it’s about community. It’s about giving new life to old items, reducing waste, and fostering a sense of togetherness. Last year, the store raised over €10,000 for local charities. This year, they aim to beat that record.
But it’s not just about the numbers. It’s about the stories behind each item. The little black dress that saw a thousand dances. The vintage record that once filled a room with music. The children’s book that sparked a thousand dreams. Each piece has a history, and now, it’s ready to start a new chapter.
So, mark your calendars, Malta. From October 15th to November 15th, 177, St. George’s Road, Ta’ Xbiex will be more than just a storage room. It will be a testament to the power of community, sustainability, and the beauty of second-hand treasures. See you there?
