Father Arrested Over Alleged Abuse Revealed in WhatsApp Messages

In the quiet town of Żebbuġ, nestled in the heart of Malta, a father’s alleged actions have through the community. The man, a 45-year-old local resident, was arrested this week following the discovery of disturbing WhatsApp messages that hinted at the abuse of his 15-year-old daughter.

The alarm was raised when the teenager’s mother, concerned about her daughter’s sudden change in behavior, gained access to her WhatsApp account. The messages, sent to an unknown recipient, detailed incidents of alleged physical and emotional abuse. The mother immediately reported the findings to the police.

“I couldn’t believe what I was reading,” the mother told Hot Malta, her voice trembling. “My daughter had been withdrawn, not her usual self. I had no idea what was going on until I saw those messages.”

The father, who has been remanded in custody, is expected to appear in court next week. The girl, meanwhile, is receiving support from social services and her family.
