As the sun sets over the historic streets of Valletta, the political scene in Malta is abuzz with activity. Districts and Their Candidates
Malta’s election is divided into 13 districts, each with its unique character and challenges. Here’s a rundown of candidates per district, starting from the capital:
1. Birkirkara
Birkirkara, Malta’s most populous locality, sees a mix of familiar faces and new contenders. The Labour Party (PL) has fielded incumbent MP Owen Bonnici, while the Nationalist Party (PN) has chosen former MP and lawyer, Beppe Fenech Adami. Alternattiva Demokratika (AD) will be represented by environmentalist, Arnold Cassola.
2. Sliema
Sliema, a bustling coastal town, has PL’s former MP, Rosianne Cutajar, running again. PN has nominated lawyer and former MP, Jason Azzopardi. AD’s candidate is environmental activist, Rachel Benson.
3. Mosta
In Mosta, PL’s candidate is incumbent MP, Chris Agius. PN has chosen lawyer and former MP, David Stellini. AD’s candidate is environmentalist and teacher, Mark Mallia.
