The footage, shot from inside a moving car, shows them weaving in and out of traffic, speeding through residential areas, and even attempting to race with public transport buses.

Malta’s roads are no stranger to traffic congestion, but this video highlights a more pressing issue: dangerous driving. According to the Malta Police, there has been a worrying increase in reports of reckless driving, with speeding, tailgating, and dangerous overtaking being the most common offences.

Dr. Marc Sant Fournier, a local psychologist, weighs in on the issue. “Reckless driving is often a result of a lack of impulse control and a desire for thrill-seeking behaviour,” he says. “These individuals are not considering the potential consequences of their actions, which could be catastrophic.”

Legally, the individuals in the video could face serious charges. According to the Road Traffic Act, dangerous driving carries a penalty of up to €2,330 and a driving ban of up to six months. if their actions result in an accident, they could face even more severe penalties, including imprisonment.

Inspector Ian Abela from the Malta Police Traffic Department urges anyone with information about the video to come forward. “We take these matters very seriously,” he says. “We want to ensure the safety of all road users in Malta.”
