In the quiet, sun-kissed town of Mellieħa, a 17-year-old boy found himself in handcuffs, accused of a violent act that has left an elderly neighbour nursing injuries. The incident, which occurred on the bustling Triq San Pawl, has through the usually tranquil community, leaving residents in disbelief.

The Incident

The teenager, who cannot be named due to his age, was arrested and charged with causing actual bodily harm to a 72-year-old man. According to eyewitnesses, the altercation took place on Tuesday evening, as the sun began to set over the picturesque Mellieħa Bay.

The elderly victim, a retired teacher known for his warm smile and friendly demeanour, was walking home from the local supermarket when the incident occurred. Neighbours, hearing the commotion, rushed out to find him sprawled on the pavement, blood trickling from a cut on his head.

Community Reaction

News of the incident has sparked outrage among Mellieħa residents. “This is not the Mellieħa we know and love,” said Maria, a local shop owner who preferred not to give her last name. “We’re a close-knit community. Everyone knows everyone. This is a wake-up call.”

The Investigation
