Abela Vows to Deliver on Promises to Labour Supporters

Abela’s Pledge: “We Know We Can Deliver”

Malta’s Prime Minister, Robert Abela, stood before a sea of supporters at the Labour Party’s headquarters in Pietà last night, his voice echoing through the streets of this bustling town. His message was clear, concise, and confident: “We know we can deliver on all our promises.”

The crowd, a mix of long-time Labour supporters and new faces, cheered in response. They had gathered to celebrate the party’s 75th anniversary, but the event was also a chance for Abela to reiterate his government’s commitment to the promises made during the last election campaign.

From Promises to Action

Abela’s speech was a walk down memory lane, a reminder of the pledges made two years ago. Affordable housing, better healthcare, improved public transport – these were the promises that resonated with voters and secured Labour’s victory in 2020. Now, Abela is promising that these promises will be kept.

“We know we can deliver because we’ve already started delivering,” he told the crowd. He pointed to the affordable housing projects underway in Birkirkara and Żabbar, the new hospital wing in Msida, and the ongoing public transport reforms. “We’ve started, and we won’t stop,” he said.

Challenges Ahead

Abela acknowledged the challenges ahead. The COVID-19 pandemic has stretched Malta’s resources, and the global economic downturn is casting a shadow over the island’s future. But he was undeterred. “We’ve faced challenges before,” he said, “and we’ve always emerged stronger.”

He also addressed the ongoing inquiry into the murder of journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia, a sensitive issue that has dominated Maltese politics for years. “We will not rest until justice is served,” he said, to applause from the crowd.

Abela ended his speech with a call to action. “We need your help to keep delivering,” he said. “We need your support, your ideas, your energy. Together, we can build a better Malta.”

The crowd responded with chants of “Labour, Labour!” as Abela left the stage, his message clear: the government’s promises are not just words, but a commitment backed by action and supported by the people.
