Eurovision 2021: Finland & Israel Qualify, Malta’s Destiny Falls Short

Eurovision Fever: Finland & Israel Sail Through to Grand Final

Last night, the Mediterranean Conference Centre in Valletta was abuzz with excitement as the first Eurovision semi-final kicked off. The air was thick with anticipation, and the crowd was a vibrant mix of locals and tourists, all eager to witness the start of this musical spectacle. And what a start it was!

Finland’s Rockstar and Israel’s Power Ballad: The Standout Acts

The night belonged to Finland’s rockstar, Blind Channel, and Israel’s power balladeer, Eddie Butler. Both acts delivered power-packed performances that had the audience on their feet and the juries reaching for the top scores.

Blind Channel, with their heavy metal-meets-pop anthem “Dark Side”, brought the house down. Their energy was infectious, and their unique sound had the crowd headbanging along. Meanwhile, Eddie Butler’s emotional performance of “The Last Goodbye” left not a dry eye in the house. His powerful vocals and the song’s poignant lyrics about loss and love resonated deeply with the audience.

Malta’s Favourite: Destiny’s Disappointment

Unfortunately, not all the news was good. Malta’s own Destiny, who had been a hot favourite to win the entire competition, failed to qualify for the grand final. Her performance of “Je Me Casse” was solid, but it seems the juries and the public weren’t quite won over.

Destiny’s elimination is a blow to Maltese hopes, but it’s not the end of the road for our Eurovision dreams. We still have Graham Bond and Flo to cheer on in the second semi-final. Let’s hope they can bring us back into the game!

What’s Next?

The second semi-final takes place tonight, with another 18 acts vying for the 10 spots in the grand final. The stakes are high, and the competition is fierce. But with two nights of semi-finals down, one thing’s for sure – this year’s Eurovision is shaping up to be a thriller!

So, Malta, get ready to party again tonight! Let’s show the world that we’re not just a small island – we’re a force to be reckoned with in the world of music!
