It was just another sunny morning in Lija, until a truck carrying a mountain of gravel decided to take a tumble near the roundabout. The scene that unfolded was a mix of chaos and curiosity, as commuters found their usual routes blocked by a sea of tiny rocks.

The truck, belonging to local construction company Malta Builders, was en route to a construction site in Birkirkara when it overturned. Lija resident, Maria Grech, was one of the first to witness the scene. “I was on my way to work when I saw the truck tilt. It happened so fast, and then there was gravel everywhere. I had to turn back and take a different route,” she told Hot Malta.
