Meet Joseph, a 35-year-old man from Msida, and his former partner, Maria (not their real names). Their relationship ended amicably, or so Maria thought. But when she started seeing someone new, Joseph’s messages turned from friendly to frantic. He’d send up to 50 messages a day, pleading, accusing, and even threatening.
“I felt trapped,” Maria told us. “I couldn’t ignore my phone, but every time I checked it, there was another message. It was like he was always there, watching.”
