Marsa’s Duck Dilemma: Council Seeks New Home
Marsa’s Quacky Dilemma: Council Pleads for Ducks’ New Home
In the heart of Malta’s Marsa, a quaint town known for its rich history and vibrant community, an unusual plea has echoed through the streets. The local council is appealing for help to rehome a group of ducks that have taken residence in the town’s central square, after several of their feathered friends have sadly passed away.
Ducks in Distress
Marsa’s central square, a bustling hub lined with traditional Maltese balconies and quaint cafes, has become an unlikely home for a flock of ducks. While their presence has brought a touch of nature to the urban scene, the council has expressed concern about their well-being. Several ducks have been found deceased, leading the council to believe that the urban environment might not be the best fit for these waterfowl.
“We’ve noticed an increase in the duck population in the square, which is great, but we’re worried about their health and safety,” said Joe Borg, a Marsa council representative. “We’ve had a few incidents where ducks have been injured or worse, and we think it’s time to find them a more suitable home.”
Finding a New Nest
The council is now appealing to local residents, wildlife organizations, and even farms to provide a new home for the ducks. They’re looking for a location that can provide a safe and natural habitat, with access to water and plenty of space for the ducks to roam.
“We’re not asking for much, just a place where these ducks can live peacefully and safely,” Borg added. “We’ve seen how much joy they bring to the community, and we want to ensure they’re well taken care of.”
Community Response
The appeal has sparked a wave of responses from the Marsa community. Some have offered to help relocate the ducks, while others have suggested potential locations. A local wildlife organization, Nature Trust Malta, has also stepped in to assist.
“We’re glad to see the community rallying together for these ducks,” said a spokesperson from Nature Trust Malta. “We’re working with the council to find the best possible solution, and we’re confident that we can give these ducks a new lease on life.”
As the search for a new home continues, the ducks remain a beloved sight in Marsa. Residents have been leaving out food and water for them, ensuring they’re well-fed while they await their new home.
So, if you’re a Marsa resident with a large garden, a nearby farm, or know someone who might be able to provide a new home for these ducks, the council would love to hear from you. Let’s give these quacky residents the happy ending they deserve.
