PN’s Borg Manché: Labour Has Let Down Workers

Conrad Borg Manché: Labour’s Workers’ Woes in the Spotlight

In the heart of Malta’s political scene, at the PN headquarters in Pietà, a familiar face took centre stage. Conrad Borg Manché, the Nationalist Party’s spokesperson on employment and industrial relations, didn’t mince his words. “Labour has let down the workers,” he declared, his voice echoing through the room, setting the tone for the party’s first event of the year.

Labour’s Promises vs. Reality

Borg Manché painted a stark contrast between Labour’s pre-election promises and the current state of affairs. He pointed out that while Labour had pledged to create jobs and boost wages, the reality was far from rosy. “Unemployment is rising, wages are stagnant, and workers’ rights are under threat,” he stated, citing official statistics to back his claims.

He highlighted the plight of workers in sectors like construction and hospitality, who, despite their crucial role in driving Malta’s economy, were often exploited and underpaid. “We’ve seen cases where workers aren’t paid for months, or are forced to work in unsafe conditions,” he said, his voice laced with concern.

PN’s Proposed Solutions

Borg Manché didn’t just stop at criticising Labour’s record. He outlined the PN’s proposed solutions, focusing on strengthening workers’ rights and improving their working conditions. He proposed stricter enforcement of labour laws, better wages and working hours regulations, and more support for trade unions.

He also touched on the PN’s plans to diversify the economy, creating new job opportunities and reducing dependence on traditional sectors. “We need to invest in new industries, like tech and innovation, to create better, more sustainable jobs,” he said.

A Call to Action

Borg Manché ended his speech with a call to action, urging workers to stand up for their rights and join the PN’s cause. “We need your voice, your strength, your determination. Together, we can change things for the better,” he said, to a round of applause from the audience.

The event, which was also attended by PN leader Bernard Grech, sent a clear message: the Nationalist Party is ready to challenge Labour’s record on workers’ rights and offer a alternative vision for Malta’s future.
