Gravel Spill Chaos: Truck Overturns Near Lija Roundabout

It was just another bustling morning in Lija when the unthinkable happened. A truck laden with gravel lost control near the town’s busy roundabout, sending the vehicle and its cargo sprawling across the road. The incident occurred around 9 am, causing immediate gridlock. The roundabout, a major thoroughfare connecting Lija, Balzan, and Attard, was reduced to a snarling mess of honking cars and frustrated drivers. Miraculously, no serious injuries were reported, though the truck driver was taken to Mater Dei Hospital for observation.

Investigation Underway

The cause of the accident is still under investigation. Early reports suggest that the truck may have hydroplaned on the wet road, though this has not been confirmed. The truck, registered to a local construction company, was reportedly en route to a building site in Birkirkara when the incident occurred.
