Aidan Takes Centre Stage in Eurovision Semi-Final Tonight

As the sun sets over the Grandmaster’s Palace in Valletta, a familiar anticipation fills the air. Tonight, Malta’s very own Aidan will step onto the Eurovision stage, ready to captivate Europe with his powerful ballad, ‘Before You’re Gone’.

Malta’s Eurovision Journey So Far

Malta’s love affair with the Eurovision Song Contest is no secret. From the first note sung in 1971, our tiny island nation has punched above its weight, with memorable performances and even a win in 2002 with Ira Losco’s ‘7th Wonder’. Aidan, a 20-year-old singer-songwriter from Msida, is the latest Maltese hopeful to carry the nation’s flag.

This year’s contest, held in Turin, Italy, sees Aidan competing in the second semi-final tonight. If he secures a top 10 finish, he’ll advance to the grand final this Saturday, giving Malta a chance to shine in the global spotlight once again.

Aidan: The Man Behind the Mic

Born and raised in Msida, Aidan Abela first caught the public’s attention when he won the Malta Eurovision Song Contest earlier this year. His soulful voice and heartfelt lyrics have since earned him a dedicated following, both at home and abroad.

“I’ve always been passionate about music,” Aidan told Hot Malta in a recent interview. “Growing up in Malta, I was inspired by the local music scene and artists like Ira Losco and Glen Vella. I’m honoured to be following in their footsteps and representing Malta on such a big stage.”

What to Expect Tonight

Tonight’s semi-final promises a thrilling showcase of talent from across Europe. Aidan will take to the stage third, performing his emotive ballad ‘Before You’re Gone’. The song, written by Aidan himself, is a poignant tribute to his late grandfather, with lyrics that resonate with anyone who’s experienced loss.

With his powerful vocals and heartfelt delivery, Aidan is set to make a lasting impression. “I want to do Malta proud,” he said. “I want to show Europe what we’re made of, and I want to make my family and everyone who’s supported me so far proud.”

Tune in to TVM or listen live on Eurovision’s official website from 8 pm CET to cheer Aidan on. Let’s make Malta proud!
