Marsascala attempted murder victim says he is unsure who pulled the trigger

Marsascala Man: “I Don’t Know Who Shot Me”

In the quiet, coastal town of Marsascala, life has been anything but peaceful for one man. Last week, a late-night altercation left him fighting for his life, and now, he’s left with more questions than answers. “I don’t know who pulled the trigger,” the victim, who wishes to remain anonymous, told Hot Malta.

On the quiet street of Triq il-Kbira, just a stone’s throw from the bustling Marsascala Bay, the victim was walking home from a nearby bar around 11:30 PM. Suddenly, he was accosted by a group of men. Words were exchanged, tempers flared, and then, a gunshot rang out. The victim collapsed, clutching his chest, as the assailants fled into the night.

Gun Violence in Marsascala: A Rare Occurrence

Marsascala, known for its picturesque fishing village and vibrant summer scene, is not typically associated with gun violence. The last attempted murder in the area was over a decade ago. “It’s shocking,” said a local shop owner who wished to remain anonymous. “We’ve had our fair share of petty crimes, but nothing like this.”

The victim, a 35-year-old local man, is now recovering in Mater Dei Hospital. He underwent emergency surgery and is expected to make a full recovery. However, the psychological wounds run deep. “I keep replaying that night in my head,” he said. “I see the faces, but I can’t place them. I don’t know who wanted me dead.”

Police Investigation Ongoing

Marsascala Police Station is treating the incident as attempted murder. They have appealed for witnesses to come forward. “We urge anyone who was in the area of Triq il-Kbira on the night in question to contact us,” said a police spokesperson. “No matter how small the detail, it could prove crucial to our investigation.”

The victim, meanwhile, is left with a long road to recovery and a haunting question. “I just want to know who tried to take my life,” he said. “And why.”

Hot Malta will continue to follow this story as it develops.
