Malta Through to Eurovision Final with Aidan’s ‘Bella’

Malta’s Aidan Shines in Eurovision Semi-Finals with ‘Bella’

Last night, the streets of Paceville were alive with a different kind of energy. It wasn’t the usual weekend buzz, but a collective anticipation that reverberated through every corner of Malta. Our very own Aidan, with his heartfelt ballad ‘Bella’, had just qualified for the Eurovision Song Contest final. As the news spread, cheers erupted from balconies, and cars honked in celebration. Malta was through to the grand finale, and we couldn’t be prouder.

From Local Gigs to Eurovision Stage

Aidan, a 20-year-old singer-songwriter from Msida, has been making waves in Malta’s local music scene for a few years now. His soulful voice and heartfelt lyrics have captivated audiences at various gigs around the island, from the intimate settings of venues like The Garage in Paceville to the bustling streets of Valletta during the Isle of MTV concerts. But last night, he took his talent to a global stage, and boy, did he shine!

For those who missed it, Aidan’s performance was a masterclass in emotional storytelling. His powerful vocals, combined with the song’s poignant lyrics about unrequited love, had viewers reaching for their tissues. The staging was simple yet effective, with Aidan and his three backing singers dressed in black, allowing the focus to remain squarely on the music.

Malta’s Eurovision Journey So Far

Malta’s journey to this year’s Eurovision final has been anything but straightforward. After a public vote and jury deliberation, Aidan was chosen to represent Malta in Turin. The road to the semi-finals saw him competing against 17 other acts, each vying for one of the 10 spots in the final. But Aidan’s performance was nothing short of exceptional, securing him a place in the top 10 and a spot in Saturday’s final.

This isn’t the first time Malta has made it to the Eurovision final. In fact, we’ve made it to the top 10 a remarkable 16 times. But it’s been 13 years since we last won the contest, with the fabulous Chiara’s ‘What If We’ in 2005. Could this be the year we bring the Eurovision trophy back home? Aidan’s qualification has certainly given us a reason to believe.

What’s Next for Aidan?

Now that Aidan has qualified for the final, the pressure is on. He’ll be up against 25 other acts, including fan favorites like Sweden’s Cornelia Jakobs and Italy’s Mahmood and Blanco. But Aidan has shown that he’s more than capable of holding his own on the big stage. As he prepares for Saturday’s final, we’re sure he’ll have the support of every Maltese person behind him.

In the meantime, you can catch Aidan’s performance on TVM this Saturday, May 14th, at 9 pm. Let’s show our support for this talented young man as he represents Malta on the world’s biggest music stage. Good luck, Aidan!
