Malta’s Aidan Ready to Shine at Eurovision

Malta’s Eurovision Star in the Making: Aidan’s Journey to the Big Stage

Imagine the bustling streets of Paceville on a Saturday night. The air is filled with laughter and anticipation as revellers make their way to their favourite bars and clubs. Among them is Aidan, not just another party-goer, but Malta’s hopeful for the Eurovision Song Contest. With a guitar case slung over his shoulder, he’s not headed for a night out, but for a rehearsal at St. Paul’s Bay, ready to fine-tune his performance for the biggest stage in European music.

From Busking to the Big Stage

Aidan, a 20-year-old from Msida, has come a long way since he first started busking on the streets of Valletta. His soulful voice and captivating melodies caught the attention of many, including the team behind the Malta Eurovision Song Contest. This year, his original composition, Dance (Our Own Party), won over the judges and the public, securing him a spot in the Eurovision final in Liverpool.

“It’s still surreal,” Aidan admits, sitting in a quiet corner of a café in Sliema, away from the usual weekend crowds. “I remember the first time I performed in the Malta Eurovision. I was so nervous, I could barely hold my guitar. Now, I’m representing Malta on the biggest stage in Europe. It’s a dream come true.”

Malta’s Eurovision History and Aidan’s Chance

Malta has a rich history at the Eurovision Song Contest, with notable entries like Evolution by The New Kids on the Block and Chameleon by Glen Vella. Aidan hopes to build on this history and make Malta proud. “I want to show the world what Malta is made of,” he says. “We might be small, but we’ve got big talent and big hearts.”

This year’s Eurovision theme, Peace, resonates deeply with Aidan. “My song is about unity and coming together, about finding joy in simple things and dancing through life. It’s a message I think we all need to hear, especially now.”

Preparing for the Big Stage

Aidan’s preparation for Eurovision is intense. He’s working with a team of professionals, fine-tuning his performance, and even learning new languages to connect with the audience on a deeper level. “I want to give my best, not just for me, but for Malta,” he says. “We’ve got the whole country cheering us on, and that means the world to me.”

Back in St. Paul’s Bay, Aidan’s rehearsal is in full swing. The room is filled with the sound of his voice, powerful and emotive, yet gentle and soulful. It’s clear that Aidan has the talent and the heart to make Malta proud on the Eurovision stage.

As he takes a break, he looks out at the sea, a symbol of the journey he’s about to embark on. “I’m confident and excited,” he says, turning back to the room. “I’m ready to give it my all and make Malta proud.”
