Metal Bar Attack: A Shocking Incident in Msida

In the quiet residential area of Triq San Pawl, Msida, an early morning scene turned into a nightmare for a man who found himself on the receiving end of a metal bar attack allegedly wielded by his former housemate. The incident, which took place last Tuesday, has left the usually peaceful neighbourhood shaken and residents calling for increased security measures.

What Happened on Triq San Pawl?

According to eyewitnesses, the victim, a 35-year-old man, was walking to his car around 7:30 AM when he was suddenly attacked by a man he recognized as his former housemate. The alleged attacker, a 32-year-old man, is said to have been waiting for him, brandishing a metal bar. The victim sustained severe injuries to his head and arms and was immediately rushed to Mater Dei Hospital, where he remains in stable condition.

The alleged attacker was swiftly apprehended by police who were alerted by nearby residents. He was found in possession of the metal bar, which was later seized as evidence. The man was subsequently arrested and is currently being held at the Msida Police Station pending further investigations.

Motive Behind the Attack Remains Unclear

Neighbours and friends of the victim have been left bewildered by the incident, with many expressing their shock at the sudden outbreak of violence. While the motive behind the attack remains unclear, police sources have revealed that the two men had a falling out some months ago, which may have escalated into Tuesday’s incident.

Inspector Joseph Borg of the Msida Police Station commented, “We are treating this as a case of grievous bodily harm. We are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has information that could help with our investigations to come forward.”

Residents Call for Increased Security Measures

The incident has sparked concern among residents, with many calling for increased security measures in the area. Msida Local Council has responded by promising to install additional street lights and CCTV cameras in the vicinity. Councilor Mario Vella stated, “We cannot allow such incidents to happen in our community. We are doing everything in our power to ensure the safety of our residents.”

The victim’s family has also issued a statement, thanking the community for their support and expressing their hope that justice will be served. They have also urged anyone with information about the incident to contact the police.
