Next edition of ‘Museums by Candelight’ to be held in Valletta on June 6

Imagine strolling through the cobbled streets of Valletta, the city’s grand architecture softly illuminated by flickering candles. This isn’t a scene from a period drama, but a reality that will unfold on June 6, as the ‘Museums by Candlelight’ event returns to our capital city.

The annual event, organised by Heritage Malta, transforms Valletta’s historic sites into a magical, open-air museum. This year, on the evening of June 6, the city’s grand buildings will cast their shadows under the moonlight, while the glow of hundreds of candles will bring them to life.

From the Grandmaster’s Palace to the National Museum of Archaeology, each venue will offer a unique experience. The Malta National Museum of Fine Arts will host a special exhibition, while the National War Museum will share stories of Malta’s bravery during World War II. The list of participating museums and their special programmes is set to be announced soon, so keep an eye on Heritage Malta’s website.

But ‘Museums by Candlelight’ is more than just a chance to explore our history under the stars. It’s an opportunity to appreciate the beauty of our capital city, to see it in a new light, quite literally.
