PL Pledges €12k Car Grants for Big Families
Big Boost for Big Families: PL’s €12,000 Car Grant Promise
Imagine this: you’re a parent of four, five, or even more little ones, navigating the bustling streets of Malta’s towns. You’ve got school runs, grocery trips, and soccer matches to juggle. Now, picture this – a car grant of up to €12,000 to make your life a little easier. That’s the promise from the Partit Laburista (PL), and it’s got families buzzing.
What’s the Deal?
The PL has pledged to introduce a car grant scheme for families with three or more children. The grant, ranging from €6,000 to €12,000, will be based on the number of kids and the family’s income. Here’s the breakdown:
- €6,000 for families with 3 children and an income up to €30,000
- €9,000 for families with 3 children and an income between €30,001 and €45,000
- €12,000 for families with 4 or more children and an income up to €45,000
But wait, there’s more. The grant can be used to buy a new or used car, as long as it’s less than five years old and emits less than 120g CO2 per km. It’s a win-win – families get a helping hand, and the environment gets a break too.
Why Now?
The PL’s promise comes at a time when families are feeling the pinch. The cost of living is up, and so are car prices. PL leader Robert Abela sees the scheme as a way to support families and boost the local car industry. “We want to make life easier for families,” he said, “and this scheme will do just that.”
What’s Next?
If the PL wins the next general election, this scheme could become a reality. But until then, it’s all talk. Opposition parties have been quick to criticize, with the Partit Nazzjonalista (PN) accusing the PL of using the scheme for political gain. if this promise turns into a reality.
For now, though, families are hopeful. “It would make a world of difference,” said Maria, a mother of four from Birkirkara. “I’d finally be able to drive the kids to school without worrying about breakdowns.”
So, could this car grant scheme be the key to unlocking a smoother ride for Malta’s big families? . But one thing’s for sure – it’s a promise that’s got parents revving their engines with hope.
