Fort Chambray: Gozo’s New National Park?

Momentum, Malta’s leading environmental NGO, has proposed an ambitious plan to transform Fort Chambray into Gozo’s first national park. Fort Chambray, perched on a hill overlooking Xlendi, has a rich history that dates back to the Knights of St. John. Built in the 18th century, the fort was once a strategic military outpost, protecting the island from potential invasions. Momentum’s proposal seeks to transform the fort and its surrounding 120 hectares into a national park. This isn’t a new idea – it’s been discussed for years, but now, with increased public support and a detailed plan, it’s gaining momentum.
