Evacuation Order Lifted

At around 7:30 AM, residents of the street in Naxxar received a shock when they were told to evacuate their homes immediately. The order came after a suspected structural issue was noticed in one of the buildings. Firefighters and Civil Protection Department officials rushed to the scene, cordoning off the area and advising residents to leave their homes.

However, after several hours of inspections and assessments, it was determined that the building was not at risk of collapse. The evacuation order was lifted, and residents were allowed to return to their homes just before noon.

Residents React: ‘It Was Scary, But We’re Just Glad It Wasn’t Real’

Maria, a resident of Triq il-Kunsill Naxxar, shared her experience with Hot Malta. “I was in the shower when I heard the commotion outside. I got dressed and left my house without even grabbing my phone. It was scary, but we’re just glad it wasn’t real,” she said.

Another resident, Joseph, echoed Maria’s sentiments. “I’ve lived here for 20 years, and this is the first time something like this has happened. It was a bit of a shock, but we’re relieved it was a false alarm,” he said.
