Teen’s Face Slashed in Paceville Brawl: Witness Questioned

In the early hours of Saturday morning, the usually bustling streets of Paceville fell silent as the wail of ambulance sirens cut through the night. The reason? A teenager lay on the pavement, blood streaming from a deep gash across his face, the result of a violent brawl that had erupted just moments before.

Now, a week later, the Malta Police Force has confirmed that a witness has been questioned in relation to the incident. The victim, a 17-year-old boy, remains in hospital, his face stitched together in a bid to repair the damage caused by what police have described as a ‘vicious attack’.

Paceville, the island’s entertainment hub, is no stranger to late-night altercations. Yet, the severity of this incident has left both residents and regulars shaken. “It’s always been a bit rowdy here,” says Tony, a bartender at one of Paceville’s popular clubs, “But this… this is something else.”

The incident occurred outside a popular nightclub on St. George’s Road, a street lined with bars and clubs that cater to the island’s vibrant nightlife. CCTV footage, obtained by Hot Malta, shows a group of young men engaged in a heated argument before the situation quickly escalated into a full-blown brawl.

Superintendent Lawrence Aquilina, leading the investigation, confirmed that a witness has been assisting police but stressed that the investigation is still in its early stages. “We are treating this as a serious assault,” he said, “and we are leaving no stone unturned in our efforts to bring those responsible to justice.”

Local politicians have also weighed in on the incident. Opposition MP Jason Azzopardi called for stricter enforcement of licensing laws, stating, “Paceville has become a no-go area for many, and something needs to be done.”
