Teen’s Face Slashed in Paceville Brawl: Witness Questioned

In the early hours of Saturday morning, the usually bustling streets of Paceville fell silent as the wail of ambulance sirens cut through the night. The reason? A teenager lay on the pavement, blood streaming from a deep gash across his face, the result of a violent brawl that had erupted just moments before.

Now, a week later, the Malta Police Force has confirmed that a witness has been questioned in relation to the incident. The victim, a 17-year-old boy, remains in hospital, his face stitched together in a bid to repair the damage caused by what police have described as a ‘vicious attack’.

Paceville: A Night Out Gone Wrong

Paceville, the island’s entertainment hub, is no stranger to late-night altercations. Yet, the severity of this incident has left both residents and regulars shaken. “It’s always been a bit rowdy here,” says Tony, a bartender at one of Paceville’s popular clubs, “But this… this is something else.”

The incident occurred outside a popular nightclub on St. George’s Road, a street lined with bars and clubs that cater to the island’s vibrant nightlife. CCTV footage, obtained by Hot Malta, shows a group of young men engaged in a heated argument before the situation quickly escalated into a full-blown brawl.

Police: Witness Cooperating but Investigation Ongoing

Superintendent Lawrence Aquilina, leading the investigation, confirmed that a witness has been assisting police but stressed that the investigation is still in its early stages. “We are treating this as a serious assault,” he said, “and we are leaving no stone unturned in our efforts to bring those responsible to justice.”

Local politicians have also weighed in on the incident. Opposition MP Jason Azzopardi called for stricter enforcement of licensing laws, stating, “Paceville has become a no-go area for many, and something needs to be done.”

Meanwhile, the victim’s family has appealed for anyone with information to come forward. “Our son’s life has been changed forever,” they said in a statement, “and we need to know why.”

Community Calls for Action

In the wake of the incident, a petition has been launched, calling for increased security measures in Paceville. “We want to see more CCTV, better lighting, and a visible police presence,” says petition organiser, Maria Grech. “We love Paceville, but it’s time for a change.”

The petition, which has already gathered hundreds of signatures, will be presented to the local council and the police commissioner in the coming weeks.

As the investigation continues, one thing is clear: the incident has sparked a conversation about the future of Paceville. Can the island’s nightlife capital shed its reputation for violence? . But one thing is for sure – the community is demanding action.
