Lidl Malta Recalls Peanut Butter Over Plastic Contamination Risk

You pop into Lidl for your weekly shop, grabbing a few essentials, including a jar of peanut butter. A few days later, you’re spreading it on your toast, when suddenly, your phone pings. It’s a recall alert. The peanut butter you just bought might be contaminated. This isn’t a hypothetical scenario. It’s happening right now.

Lidl Malta has issued a recall for a specific batch of their ‘Good Value Crunchy Peanut Butter’ due to a potential contamination risk. The Food Safety Authority (FSA) has warned that some jars may contain small pieces of plastic, posing a health risk to consumers.

The affected product is the 340g jar of ‘Good Value Crunchy Peanut Butter’ with the batch code L1274 and best before date of 30.09.2023. If you have any jars with this batch code, Lidl advises you not to consume them and to return them to the store for a full refund.

If you’ve bought this product, here’s what you should do:

• Check the batch code on the lid of the jar.


• If it’s L1274, do not consume the peanut butter.


• Take the jar back to any Lidl store in Malta, with or without a receipt, for a full refund.

Lidl has assured customers that no other batches or products are affected. They’ve also apologized for any inconvenience caused and thanked customers for their understanding.
