Dara: Malta’s Eurovision Star in the Making

Imagine this: a packed Arena & Sports Complex in Gżira, Malta’s largest indoor venue, echoing with cheers as Dara, our homegrown talent, takes the stage. This isn’t a dream sequence; it’s the vision driving Malta’s Eurovision hopeful, Dara, as she prepares to represent us in Turin.

From Malta’s Got Talent to Eurovision

Dara Eleuteriu’s journey began right here in Malta, on the set of Malta’s Got Talent in 2019. Her powerful voice and captivating stage presence won the hearts of judges and audiences alike, earning her the title of ‘Maltese Golden Buzzer.’ Fast forward to 2022, and Dara is set to represent Malta at the Eurovision Song Contest with her track ‘Je Me Casse.’

But Dara’s path to Eurovision wasn’t straightforward. She won the right to represent Malta at the international contest after triumphing in the Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2022, held at the Mediterranean Conference Centre in Valletta. Her victory was a testament to her hard work, dedication, and the support of her Maltese fan base.

Dara’s Maltese Connection

Born to Romanian parents but raised in Malta, Dara’s music is a blend of her cultural heritage and Maltese influences. Her Eurovision track, ‘Je Me Casse,’ is a testament to this fusion. The song, written by Malta’s very own Muxu and David Mifsud, is a powerful pop ballad that showcases Dara’s vocal prowess while incorporating Maltese lyrics.

Dara’s connection to Malta runs deep. She’s a graduate of the University of Malta, where she studied Psychology. Her love for the island is evident in her interviews, where she often speaks about the support she receives from the local community. “Malta has given me so much,” she says, “I’m proud to represent my home.”

Preparing for Turin

As Dara prepares for her Eurovision debut, she’s been busy rehearsing and promoting her song. She’s been supported by the Malta Eurovision Song Contest team, who’ve been working tirelessly to ensure she’s ready for the international stage. Dara’s also been receiving vocal coaching from renowned vocal coach, Irial O’Loughlin, who’s helped her hone her craft and prepare for the intense pressure of the contest.

But Dara’s not just focusing on her vocals. She’s also been working with choreographers to create a dynamic stage performance that will captivate audiences. Her goal? To make Malta proud and bring the Eurovision trophy home to our little island.

As Dara prepares to take the stage in Turin, she’s not just representing herself; she’s carrying the hopes and dreams of Malta on her shoulders. She’s a testament to what can be achieved with hard work, dedication, and the support of a community. So, let’s cheer her on, share her journey, and show the world what Malta’s made of.

As Dara herself says, “This is my dream, and I’m going to give it my all. Watch out, Europe, here comes Malta!”
