Tucked away in a quiet corner of Triq San Giljan, District 3 started as a humble food truck in 2019. Deguara, a graduate of the Institute of Tourism Studies, had honed his skills in various local kitchens before taking the leap to start his own venture. His mission? To bring a taste of the world to Malta’s doorstep.

Fast forward to 2021, and District 3 has evolved into a full-fledged restaurant, drawing crowds with its innovative menu that blends Maltese and international flavours. From the popular ‘Fearne’ burger – a nod to Deguara’s hometown of Żebbuġ – to the more exotic jerk chicken, District 3 has become a culinary destination.

When the ‘Fearne’ burger first hit the scene, it sparked a phenomenon locals dubbed ‘Fearne fever’. The burger, packed with local favourites like ħobż biż-Żejt, ħelwa tat-Tork, and ħelwa tal-ħarrub, was an instant hit. It sold out daily, with customers queuing around the block. Can District 3 repeat this success?

Deguara is optimistic. “We’ve got some exciting new dishes in the pipeline,” he teases. “I can’t reveal too much, but let’s just say we’re staying true to our roots while exploring new flavours.”
