FACT’s Founder Jesmond Pace Retires: A Chapter Closes in Malta’s Tech Scene

In the heart of Malta’s tech hub, at the bustling Tigne’ Point, the sign outside FACT’s office has been updated. It no longer reads ‘Founder: Jesmond Pace’. After two decades at the helm, Jesmond has announced his retirement, leaving a void in Malta’s tech community.

From Garage to Tech Hub

Jesmond Pace started FACT in 1999 from his garage in Msida. Back then, the internet was still a novelty in Malta. Today, FACT is a leading tech company, employing over 100 people, and Jesmond’s retirement marks the end of an era.

“I remember when Jesmond first started FACT,” says Joe Borg, a long-time colleague. “He had this vision, this passion. He saw the potential of tech in Malta before anyone else did.”

Paving the Way for Malta’s Tech Industry

Under Jesmond’s leadership, FACT didn’t just grow; it grew the industry around it. It was one of the first companies to bring .NET development to Malta. It pioneered agile methodologies. It mentored countless young tech talents.

“Jesmond wasn’t just a boss,” says Maria Azzopardi, one of FACT’s first employees. “He was a mentor, a friend. He created an environment where we could grow, both personally and professionally.”

FACT’s board has appointed Caroline Camilleri as the new CEO. Caroline, who has been with FACT for over a decade, is ready to take the reins. “Jesmond leaves big shoes to fill,” she says. “But I’m excited about the future. We have a fantastic team, and we’re committed to continuing Jesmond’s legacy.”

Jesmond, meanwhile, plans to spend more time with his family, travel, and perhaps even indulge in his passion for photography. But he won’t be completely out of the picture. “I’ll still be around,” he says with a smile. “I’ll be FACT’s biggest cheerleader.”

As Jesmond Pace retires, Malta’s tech scene loses a pioneer. But it gains a role model, a testament to what passion, vision, and hard work can achieve. And FACT? It’s ready to write its next chapter.
