Qrendi Cocaine Bust: Woman Charged After €13,000 Drug Find
Cocaine Cache: Qrendi Woman in €13,000 Drug Bust

Early morning sunlight barely pierced the quiet streets of Qrendi as police officers knocked on the door of a seemingly ordinary residence. Little did they know, they were about to uncover a stash of cocaine worth €13,000. The woman who opened the door, a 38-year-old local resident, was left astonished as her home was searched and the illicit drugs were discovered.
Drugs Hidden in Plain Sight
The cocaine, weighing in at 130 grams, was found hidden in the woman’s residence on Triq l-Imqades. Neighbours, waking up to the commotion, watched in disbelief as the police seized the drugs and arrested the woman. “I couldn’t believe it,” said a neighbour who wished to remain anonymous. “She seemed like such a normal person. You never expect something like this to happen next door.”

Police Operation Reveals Drug Network
The bust was the result of an ongoing police operation targeting drug trafficking in the southern region of Malta. The woman was charged with trafficking and possession of illegal substances. Investigations are ongoing to determine if she was acting alone or as part of a larger network. Sources close to the investigation hint at a possible connection to other recent drug busts in the area.
Superintendent of Police, Keith Mallia, commented, “This seizure is a significant blow to drug trafficking in the south of Malta. We are committed to dismantling these networks and bringing those responsible to justice.”
Qrendi: A Surprising Twist
Qrendi, a village known for its rural charm and the ancient Ġgantija Temples, has seen a rise in drug-related incidents in recent years. While the village maintains its peaceful atmosphere, the discovery of the cocaine cache serves as a stark reminder that no place is immune to the scourge of drug trafficking.
Mayor of Qrendi, Michael Farrugia, expressed his concern, “We are shocked by this discovery. Qrendi is a close-knit community, and we will not tolerate drug trafficking. We are fully cooperating with the police to ensure that those responsible are brought to justice.”
