New Apostolic Nuncio Mgr Wojciech Załuski Arrives in Malta: A Warm Welcome and a New Chapter

As the sun set over the Grand Harbour, a familiar yet significant figure stepped off the plane at Malta International Airport. Mgr Wojciech Załuski, the new Apostolic Nuncio to Malta, had arrived, ready to take up his post and begin a new chapter in the island’s rich religious history.

From Warsaw to Valletta: A Journey of Faith

Born in Warsaw, Poland, Mgr Załuski brings a wealth of experience and a deep understanding of the Catholic Church to his new role. Having served as the Secretary of the Congregation for the Oriental Churches and the Apostolic Nuncio to Ukraine, his appointment to Malta was warmly welcomed by the local Church and the Government.

“We are delighted to welcome Mgr Załuski to Malta,” said Archbishop Charles J. Scicluna. “His experience and dedication will be a great asset to our Church as we continue to serve the people of Malta and Gozo.”

Familiarising Himself with the Islands

In his first few weeks, Mgr Załuski has been busy familiarising himself with the unique character and culture of Malta and Gozo. From exploring the winding streets of Valletta to visiting the ancient catacombs of Rabat, he has been immersing himself in the islands’ rich history and heritage.

“Malta is a land of faith and beauty,” he said. “I am looking forward to learning more about its people and their traditions, and to serving the Church here in any way I can.”
