New Apostolic Nuncio Mgr Wojciech Załuski Arrives in Malta

Born in the small Polish town of Sierakowice, Mgr Załuski, 54, has a resume that reads like a whirlwind tour of the Vatican’s diplomatic corps. After studying theology and canon law in Rome, he served in various roles, from the Vatican’s Secretariat of State to the Apostolic Nunciature in the Czech Republic. Most recently, he was the Apostolic Nuncio to Ukraine, a role that saw him navigate the complex political and religious scene of that troubled nation.

Now, he finds himself in Malta, a country known for its Mediterranean sunshine, rich history, and strong Catholic faith. But while the climate might be warmer, the challenges are no less daunting.
