PN’s 2026 Vision: Key Proposals Unveiled

PN’s 2026 Vision: A Glimpse into the Party’s Proposals

As the sun set over the Grandmaster’s Palace in Valletta, the Nationalist Party (PN) unveiled its manifesto for the 2026 elections. The party, led by Bernard Grech, has outlined a vision that promises to reshape Malta’s future. But what exactly is the PN proposing? Let’s look the key points of their manifesto.

Economy: A Balanced Approach

The PN is promising a balanced approach to the economy, aiming to create a sustainable and inclusive growth model. They propose to:

    • Reduce the tax burden on families and businesses, particularly SMEs.
    • Attract foreign direct investment (FDI) by creating a more business-friendly environment.
    • Promote entrepreneurship and innovation, with a focus on start-ups and tech industries.

Grech has promised to create a ‘Ministry for Competitiveness’ to drive these economic reforms. The PN also plans to relocate this ministry to the heart of Malta’s business district, at Tigne Point, to better understand and serve the needs of the private sector.

Social Policy: Putting Families First

The PN’s social policy is centered around strengthening families and communities. Some of their key proposals include:

    • Introducing a ‘Family Budget’ to help families with the cost of living.
    • Expanding childcare facilities and making them more affordable.
    • Promoting active aging by investing in community centers and services for the elderly.

The PN also plans to transform the Ħamrun Sports Complex into a state-of-the-art community hub, offering a range of services for families and individuals of all ages.

Environment: A Green Future for Malta

The PN has placed environmental sustainability at the heart of its manifesto. Some of their key environmental proposals include:

    • Investing in renewable energy and energy efficiency to reduce Malta’s carbon footprint.
    • Protecting and restoring Malta’s natural heritage, including the creation of new marine protected areas.
    • Promoting sustainable tourism, with a focus on quality over quantity.

The PN has promised to create a ‘Ministry for Climate Change and Environment’ to drive these green initiatives. They also plan to transform the former Ta’ Qali Airfield into a green lung for Malta, with parks, cycling paths, and community gardens.

: A New Chapter for Malta

The PN’s manifesto paints a vision of a Malta that is more competitive, more caring, and more sustainable. But will their proposals translate into a new chapter for Malta? . As Grech himself put it, “The future is not written. It’s ours to shape.”
