Borg: PN to Put People First

‘A PN government will put people at the centre of its politics’: Alex Borg

As the sun set over the Grandmaster’s Palace in Valletta, Nationalist Party (PN) candidate Alex Borg stood before a crowd of supporters, his voice echoing through the historic city’s cobbled streets. His message was clear: if elected, a PN government would prioritize the people of Malta. But what does this mean for the island’s residents, and how does Borg plan to deliver on this promise?

From the Ground Up: Borg’s Vision

Borg, a long-time PN member and former mayor of Żebbuġ, has a vision that starts at the grassroots level. “We need to rebuild our communities from the ground up,” he told Hot Malta in an exclusive interview. “That means investing in local councils, empowering them to make decisions that truly benefit their communities.”

Borg points to Żebbuġ, where he served as mayor for eight years, as an example of this approach. “We transformed Żebbuġ into a model community,” he said. “We invested in infrastructure, cultural initiatives, and social projects. We listened to our residents, and we delivered.”

Putting People First: Borg’s Policy Pillars

Borg’s plan to put people at the centre of politics is supported by three key policy pillars: education, healthcare, and economic growth.

Education: Borg believes that investing in education is the key to Malta’s future. “We need to ensure that every child, regardless of their background, has access to quality education,” he said. “That means investing in our schools, attracting and retaining top teaching talent, and providing opportunities for lifelong learning.”

Healthcare: Borg wants to see a healthcare system that truly serves the people. “We need to make our healthcare system more efficient and responsive to the needs of patients,” he said. “That means investing in preventive care, improving waiting times, and ensuring that our hospitals have the resources they need to provide the best possible care.”

Economic Growth: For Borg, economic growth is not an end in itself, but a means to improve the lives of Malta’s people. “We need to create an economy that works for everyone,” he said. “That means supporting small businesses, investing in sustainable industries, and ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to share in Malta’s prosperity.”

Challenges Ahead: Making the Vision a Reality

Borg’s vision is ambitious, but it faces significant challenges. Malta’s political scene is crowded and competitive, with several parties vying for power. the PN faces an uphill battle against the incumbent Labour Party, which has been in power since 2013.

Borg is undeterred, however. “We know that this won’t be easy,” he said. “But we’re ready to fight for what we believe in. We’re ready to put people first.”

As the campaign season heats up, one thing is clear: Alex Borg’s vision for Malta is rooted in the island’s communities, and it’s driven by a desire to put the people of Malta at the heart of politics. Whether or not he succeeds in his bid for office, Borg’s message has struck a chord with many Maltese, who are eager to see a politics that truly serves their needs.
