Wave of Change Launches Xrobb l-Għaġin Campaign

Waves of Change: A New Tide of Sustainability in Xrobb l-Għaġin

Imagine this: the crystal-clear waters of Xrobb l-Għaġin, the sun dancing on the waves, and a crowd of locals and visitors alike, not just enjoying the view, but making a difference. This is not a dream, but a reality that’s about to unfold this Saturday, as Wave of Change launches its latest campaign right here in our beautiful Maltese backyard.

What’s the Wave of Change all about?

Wave of Change is a local initiative that’s been making waves (pun intended) since 2019. Their mission? To clean up our beaches and promote sustainable practices, one wave at a time. They’ve already transformed over 20 beaches across Malta and Gozo, engaging thousands of volunteers and collecting tonnes of trash. Now, they’re setting their sights on Xrobb l-Għaġin.

Xrobb l-Għaġin: A Beach in Need of Change

Xrobb l-Għaġin, nestled between Marsaxlokk and Żurrieq, is a hidden gem with stunning views of Filfla. But like many of our beaches, it’s facing challenges. Littering, plastic waste, and erosion are taking a toll on its beauty and biodiversity. Wave of Change sees this as an opportunity to turn the tide.

“Xrobb l-Għaġin is a beautiful beach with so much potential,” says Rebecca Callaghan, co-founder of Wave of Change. “We’ve seen firsthand how our campaigns can transform beaches and engage communities. We’re excited to bring that change to Xrobb l-Għaġin.”

What to Expect on Saturday

On Saturday, Wave of Change will kick off with a beach clean-up, starting at 9 am. Volunteers will be armed with gloves, bags, and a sense of purpose, ready to make a difference. But that’s not all. The event will also include:

    • Educational talks on marine conservation and sustainable living.
    • Art workshops using recycled materials, turning trash into treasure.
    • Live music and local food stalls, making it a fun day out for the whole family.

And here’s the best part: it’s all free. Wave of Change believes that everyone can afford to make a difference.

So, whether you’re a local resident, a visitor exploring Malta’s southern coast, or just someone who cares about our beaches, come down to Xrobb l-Għaġin this Saturday. Let’s make some waves together.
