Alex Borg: Putting People at the Heart of Malta’s Politics

Alex Borg: A People-Centric Vision for Malta’s Future

Imagine standing in the bustling Republic Street, the heart of Malta’s capital, Valletta. The sun is setting, casting a warm glow over the historic buildings, and you’re surrounded by a mix of locals and tourists, all going about their day. Now, picture Alex Borg, the Nationalist Party’s (PN) candidate for the upcoming general election, walking among them, not as a politician, but as a fellow Maltese, listening, understanding, and empathising with their daily struggles and aspirations. That, according to Borg, is the essence of his political philosophy – putting people at the centre of his politics.

From the Streets of Valletta to the Halls of Parliament

Alex Borg, a seasoned politician and former Minister, has been a familiar face in Malta’s political scene for decades. But his latest political journey, he insists, is different. “I’ve spent years in politics, but this time, I’m not just running for a seat in Parliament. I’m running to make a difference, to listen to the people, understand their concerns, and address them,” Borg told Hot Malta in an exclusive interview.

Borg believes that Malta’s political discourse has become too focused on party interests and power struggles, losing sight of the people who elected them. “We’ve forgotten that we’re here to serve the people, not the other way around,” he says, his voice echoing with conviction. He promises to change that, to make the people the centre of his political agenda.

Putting People First: Borg’s Political Agenda

Borg’s political agenda is a reflection of his people-centric vision. He plans to tackle issues that directly affect Maltese citizens, from housing and cost of living to healthcare and education. “We need to make Malta an affordable place to live again,” he says, acknowledging the island’s housing crisis and the soaring cost of living. “We need to ensure that our children have access to quality education and that our elderly receive the care they deserve.”

Borg also promises to strengthen Malta’s democracy and rule of law. “We need to ensure that our institutions are strong and independent, that they serve the people, not the government,” he says, hinting at his party’s criticism of the current government’s handling of corruption allegations.

Borg’s Malta: A Place Where Everyone Matters

Borg’s vision for Malta is one where everyone matters, where every voice is heard, and every concern is addressed. He wants to create a Malta where people feel empowered, where they feel they have a stake in their country’s future. “I want to create a Malta where people feel proud to call themselves Maltese, where they feel they belong,” he says, his eyes reflecting a deep sense of patriotism.

Borg’s vision is ambitious, but it’s also practical. He understands the challenges Malta faces, from its small size to its rapid development. But he’s optimistic. “Malta has always punched above its weight. We’ve overcome challenges before, and we can do it again,” he says, his voice filled with determination.

As the sun sets over Valletta, Borg’s words echo in the air. His vision is clear, his message is simple – he’s running for the people, and if elected, he promises to serve them, to listen to them, and to make their voices heard.

“Politics is about people, and it’s time we remember that.” – Alex Borg
