DJ Cleared: Back on Decks After Assault Case Dismissed
Case Dismissed: DJ Back on Decks as Ex-Partner Retracts Assault Allegations
In the heart of Paceville, the pulsating hub of Malta’s nightlife, DJ Mark Zammit is back behind the decks at his residency at ‘The Lido’. The crowd, oblivious to the recent storm, bobs and weaves to the beat, as Mark spins his tunes with renewed vigour. Just a few weeks ago, his world was turned upside down when his former partner accused him of assault. Today, the case is dismissed, and Mark is back where he belongs.
From Dancefloor to Courtroom
Mark’s life took an abrupt turn in late January. His ex-partner, Lisa, filed a police report accusing him of assault during an argument at their St. Julian’s apartment. Mark was arrested and spent a night in custody before being released on bail. The DJ community was shocked, and the case cast a long shadow over Paceville’s vibrant scene.
Mark maintains his innocence, “It was a heated argument, yes, but it never got physical. I was stunned when I heard the allegations,” he told Hot Malta. His lawyer, Joseph Giglio, echoed his client’s stance, “We maintained from the start that Mark is innocent. Today’s decision reflects that.”
Case Dismissed: A New Beat
Last week, the court dismissed the case due to insufficient evidence. Lisa, in a surprising turn of events, retracted her allegations. “I realize now that I overreacted,” she told the court. The decision has allowed Mark to pick up the pieces and get back to what he does best.
Mark’s return to ‘The Lido’ was met with a standing ovation. His fans, many of whom have known him for years, were relieved to see him back. “Mark is more than just a DJ to us,” said regular patron, Mario Attard. “He’s a friend, and we’re glad to have him back.”
Mark is philosophical about the experience, “It’s been a tough few months, but it’s made me appreciate what I have even more. I’m just glad I can get back to doing what I love.”
: A Stronger Beat
Mark is now focused on the future. He has upcoming gigs lined up, including a set at this year’s Isle of MTV. He’s also planning to launch a new music project. “I’ve got a lot of pent-up energy and creativity to channel,” he says with a smile.
As for the allegations, Mark is taking a pragmatic approach, “I’ve learned my lesson. I’m more careful now about who I let into my life. But I won’t let this define me. I’m a DJ, and that’s what I’ll keep doing.”
